Nine Things I Want To Experience In New York

I’ve been lucky enough to visit the big apple five times now. And I’ve already spoken about some of the best things to do in New York, but I’ve not talked about the things I still want to do. There’s so much to experience in New York that it’s going to take a fair few trips to cover everything. It’s a bit like London in that sense, the more I go back, the more I add to my wishlist to do.

New York can be as expensive or budget-friendly as you make it. You can book a helicopter over the city flight for something special, or walk the streets to explore.

Here are some things on my experience in New York wishlist.

Experience in New York- Attractions and things

Radio City Music Hall tour

Radio City is where a lot of TV shows are filmed including Jimmy Fallon. And I’d love to do a tour of the whole place to find out more about the studio, it’s history and how it’s used now. Plus you can register in advance to try and get audience tickets which would be awesome.

See the Rockettes live

Each year there’s a Christmas and New Year spectacular show held at Radio City Music Hall by the Rockettes and I’d love to go myself. The show features regularly in seasonal movies set in New York and I’d love to get in the festive mood by catching a performance.

See the Rockafella Christmas tree

Here’s another Christmas-themed one. The Rockafella Christmas tree with its ice rink underneath is iconic in Christmas movies and festive images and I’d love to see it myself. The idea of New York at Christmas time fills me with happiness and I’d love to spend some time in the runup to the big day in the city. Or for New Year.

Watch the ball drop in Times Square

If you’re going to have an experience in New York around the festive period I can’t think of anything better. Yes it’s touristy, and yes it’s probably super tacky and super busy. But I’d love to just be in a crowd of people watching up for the ball to drop and celebrating.

Head to Coney island

Now, this is the reason I wouldn’t be able to tick off all of my wishlist in my one go; Coney Island. It’s open between April and October and is in South Brooklyn so it’s somewhere I’d love to go for a day trip out of the main city. There’s a beach and Luna Park which is an amusement park with rides and games. It’s something a bit different from the traditional feeling of New York.

Experience in New York- Food

Food is always going to be a big draw of both New York and America in general. There are so many great things to experience that it needed its own experience in New York section.

Cheese Grille

I’m starting with something savory to experience in New York (although I couldn’t visit here with Luke). Cheese Grille is pretty self-explanatory but they do loads of cheesy-based foods including grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and cheesy chips. What could be better than that?!

Liberty Bagels

You can’t have an experience in New York and it not include a bagel. You can get your regular style bagels including some epic sounding/ looking breakfast bagels. But they also do rainbow bagels and sweet ones such as one with birthday cake creme cheese. I’d have to get both a savoury and sweet one to try.

Cookie Do

I’m a big fan of cookie dough as a sweet treat and have had Cookie Do on my wishlist for a while. Their menu looks amazing and the Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle sounds unreal.

Tipsy Scoop

For a slightly more unusual sweet treat, Tipsy Scoop is an alcoholic ice-cream parlour for those adult desserts. Their spiked mint chocolate chip and cake batter vodka martini sounds intriguing. And it’s not a concept I’ve heard much about before.
