Four Things I Can’t Wait For In 2021

Back in March/ April when our lives changed we probably thought that by this point things would be back to some form of normality. But sadly that couldn’t be further from the truth. But just because 2020 has been so different to expectations doesn’t mean that 2021 will be too. I have hope for 2021, and hope you all do too. Here are some of the things In can’t wait for in 2021.

City breaks

I feel so lucky that we managed to get away to Edinburgh in January this year as it was a saving grace before lockdown. We do have a rescheduled trip to Portugal planned for a few weeks time. But we’ll see if that still goes ahead. While I think it may be a little while until we can go to America I’m hoping to be able to do a few city breaks in 2021. I’d love to go to Athens, Barcelona or Monoco for the first time. But I’d also love to take Luke to Amsterdam or Budapest. If I can at least squeeze in one city break next year then that’s a win from me. I think we’ll be booking them a bit more last minute though.

Gigs in 2021

This is the longest period of time I’ve gone without going to a live show since I turned 17 (and that was quite a long time ago). In my mind I still feel like big gigs and festivals are going to be a long time coming back. But I can live out in hope! I have a few rescheduled shows for next year including My Chemical Romance, Green Day, McFly and festivals like Slam Dunk and 2000 trees. Plus I have since booked to see Funeral For A Friend and Biffy Clyro. And the Bring Me The Horizon tour taking place in September 2021 is going to be something to look forward to.

I really hope the music industry is able to get started again in the second quarter of next year. But I guess it will be a wait and see game.

Theatre shows

I had quite a few theatre show cancellations (and rescheduling) for this year which has been gutting. So far I have The Addams Family, Frozen and Six booked in for mid-late next year and I have reasonable faith that they’ll still happen. A bit like how cinemas worked when they reopened I envisage you’ll have to wear a mask throughout, and I can deal with this. I’m looking forward to getting a bit of culture and ticking some more shows off my wishlist.

London days out in 2021

I love going into London and ticking things off my bucket list, even if most of them are just food-related. But I’m hoping 2021 will be the year I start going back into London a bit more frequently even if it’s just to be a tourist and eat loads of food.

What are you hoping to be able to do in 2021?
