If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen plenty of content about our home renovation and move. But for those who don’t know, me and my fiance Luke got the keys to our house at the end of March when lockdown first kicked in. And we’ve been renovating ever since.
Inititally the plan was to move in during June or July. But we were too optimistic and it’s looking like Mid-August now *fingers crossed*. We’re very blessed that we’ve been able to stay at my parents house throughout this. And I’m so thankful for that. Because of this our home renovation and move is going to be much smoother. We’re just over 3 months in so have done a lot, but there’s still plenty to do.
Here are the next steps with our home renovation and move.
Clearing out the storage unit
We’ve had a storage unit since last February when we moved out of the flat which has stored a lot of our stuff. The rest of it is across most rooms at my parents and in my Nan’s house. But we’re officially emptying it out in mid-July and moving all the items into the new house.
We don’t want to continue paying for the unit, and it means I can sort out everything and work out where it all needs to go. For our home renovation and move this is the kind of thing I can be helpful/ useful to do.
Next steps for the home renovation and move- Fitting the en-suite
Our en-suite is the closest room to being finished at the moment. Within the few days after this post goes live the tiling will be complete which means it’s time to get the en-suite installed. The shower tray is in so it’s mainly the shower itself alongside the toilet and sink.
I’m so happy with how this room looks so far but our home renovation and move in won’t be complete until the ceiling is painted. Our decoration is running a litle behind so I’m not quite sure when that will happen.
Decorating
Our decorating was meant to be started (and finished upstairs) a few weeks ago. But sadly it had to be postponed due to our decorator. Hopefully we’ll get this re-started asap as we can’t do anything more upstairs until this is done. But once the decoration has ben done the second-fix of electrics cn be finished. And we can look at getting the radiators attached and the carpets fitted.
I’m so excited for this step as I’ll be able to visualize the house much more with some colour on the walls. And it will mean we’re one step closer to finishing our home renovation and move.
Next steps for the home renovation and move- Fitting the kitchen
We’ve ordered our kitchen now which is super exciting. And it’s arriving on 22nd July so once it’s with us it’s a case of building it and getting it fitted. It will probably take 1-2 weeks to finish as there are a lot of drawers to build and quite a lot of appliances to get fitted. But this is the biggest part of the renovation and once this is in we’re so close to finishing.
