Four Places I Want To Visit In The Next Five Years

Travel has felt so far from our minds over the past year that I’ve tried not to think about it. But there are loads of places I want to visit and explore. I’m itching to start making plans and booking flights. But I’ve had to take a step back from looking at Skyscanner and Booking.com until we get further through the year. Travel isn’t about whether we’re vaccinated and how the UK is doing. But it’s also about the rest of the world. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming.

Thinking ahead to post 2021 and a world where we can hopefully travel safely here are some of the places I want to visit.

My belated 30th birthday trip- Iceland

I was lucky and had my 30th birthday a month or so before the pandemic kicked off last year. But due to buying a house we decided to not spend loads of money on a trip for my special birthday. We thought we’d do it a year or so later and that’s still the plan. But it might be more like my 33rd birthday at this rate. I really want to go to Iceland around new year or early January as there are better chances of seeing the northern lights around this time. And I like the idea of going to a winter wonderland.

I’d want to do all the typical things in Iceland like the northern lights tours, whale watching, visiting the beautiful waterfalls and going to the blue lagoon. So hopefully in 2023 we can make this a reality.

Places I want to visit- Barcelona

I was very optimistic at the end of last year and booked us flights to Barcelona for the start of May. I thought why not. We could change the flights if we needed to and our hotel could be cancelled up till the day before. After Boris’ announcement we knew travel wouldn’t quite be on the cards by May so we postponed flights until next year and we’ll see when we want to head to the city.

I’d love to go around May time again as it’s lovely weather but without feeling too hot. And I love the contrast of culture and beaches in the city. So I’d love to enjoy them both while we’re there.

A New Year trip away to New York

One of the places I want to visit is more of a revisit, and that’s New York. I’ve been lucky enough to go five times already. But going at New Year has been on my bucket list for years. I’d love to be a complete tourist and see the ball drop, see the huge tree at Rockafella and genuinly feel festive in the city while also enjoying the boxing day sales. Plus I’d love to go Radio City to see The Rockettes play.

Plus there are so many food places left on my New York to eat at list that I’d love to tick off.

Places I want to visit- Bali

The first time I was due to go to Bali was 2017. I ended up cancelling the trip myself as I didn’t have enough holiday at work in the end and wanted to do other things that year. Then I booked to go on a trip in November 2020 and of course that got cancelled. So I’m determinded to finally get to Bali. I’ve never been to Asia before and would love to experience another culture, eat some good food and relax on some beaches.

These are just some of the places I want to visit, where do you want to go?

  1. I would love to visit all of these places! We were planning to visit Iceland as a late 30th present for me too but luckily didn’t book it in the end before everything happened!
