Things I Enjoy Spending Money On

There are so many things that none of us enjoy spending money on. Bills, fuel and toilet paper to name a few. Those everyday things that when you live at home and don’t have to spend on, then you move out and realise how expensive and boring they are. Thankfully me and Luke have joint money for all of the home related things so it doesn’t regularly come out of my personal account.

But there are plenty of things that I enjoy spending money on. Those things that make me smile, so I thought I’d talk about those things.

Skincare

It was only about four years ago when I really started getting into skincare and developing a routine. And probably only the past 2 years or so where I’ve maintained a proper routine. But skincare is a huge area that I love spending money on. It doesn’t matter that I have boxes full of creams, serums and cleansers, buying new bits makes me happy.

I love trying new brands and will buy sample/ travel sized items where possible to check I like something. I love trying recommendations or things I see skincare gurus raving about. And I love buying things when they’re on a deal or promo. Other than masks and treatments I generally use the same things most days with an AM routine and a PM routine, but I buy items 10 x quicker than I can use them. But it makes me happy and it benefits my skin in the long run, so win win really.

I enjoy spending my money on candles

I’ve always loved candles, but having my own home (and working from home) means I’m spending my money on candles more than ever before. I love having a candle burning while I’m working away in my office as it makes it feel cosy and smelling lovely. And I also love burning them in the living room while we’re watching TV.

I tend to go for more expensive/ bouje ones for the living room as we don’t go through them too quickly. At the moment I have a Diptique Vanille one ready to burn. Then in my office I go for slightly cheaper ones as I burn through them quickly and as it’s a small space I don’t need the scent to cover a huge area.

Home decor

Again another thing I’ve loved spending my money on more over the past year is home decor. When we moved into our house last year we had or bought most of the furniture, but home decor items I’ve been buying over time. I want to see the space, work out what we want/ need and then buying it as I go. Lately it’s been a lot of dried flowers as I loved the first bouquet I bought. But soon I want to make an order for some real plants. Fingers crossed I can keep them alive.

This is definitely more of a spending area for me than Luke as he doesn’t mind too much what’s around the house. He’s generally happy with what I pick, but anything big like artwork we’ll always choose together.
