Like holidays and many other things, festivals have been all but cancelled this summer. I only had two festivals actively booked with Slamdunk due for just over a week away. And 2000 trees due for July time. Both have become staples in my calendar now. I’ve been attending Slamdunk for around a decade now. While 2000 trees has only become an addition in the past two years. Here are some things I’m gutted to be missing this summer, but I can’t wait to be reunited with.
One thing I’m missing this summer: Slamdunk Festival
Slamdunk Festival was initially postponed from late May until September in a bid to keep the 2020 festival happening. But September was just too optimistic and last week the festival cancelled this years instalment. As I go every year I have rolled my ticket over to 2021. But who knows which artists will still be there. Although I’m gutted to be missing this summer, it’s always good to know I have 2021 tickets sorted.
Every year I’m blown away with how great the Slamdunk line up is. I always find so many bands I want to see. Usually I find multiple clashes which is why for about 4/5 years I used to do two shows. But two full day festivals with travelling between them is quite knackering.
My Chemical Romance at Stadium MK
This is probably the single most upsetting thing I’m missing this summer but waiting one more year will be worth the wait. It’s been a long time since I last saw My Chemical Romance. And while I am very sad, knowing it’s been postponed and not cancelled makes me very happy. By the time 2021 rolls around I’ll be living in my new house in Dunstable so it should actually be easier to get to. Chances are I’ll be able to beg Luke to pick me up afterwards rather than trying to navigate the late night trains.
The summer is 2021 is going to be epic, if only for this show!
A festival I’m gutted to be missing this summer: 2000 Trees Festival
2000 trees festival really tried to make the festival go ahead, but it just got to the point when everyone knew it wasn’t happening. As a smaller independent festival who are struggling financially it’s been nice to see so many people roll their tickets over to 2021 as opposed to asking for refunds. There are loads of ways to support the festival as they offer loads of pledges to keep them going until 2021.
The festival have already managed to secure headliners Jimmy Eat World to come back next year. Here’s hoping they manage to get a load of the other bands as well.
& Juliet and Mary Poppins shows
I had tickets booked for both & Juliet and Mary Poppins which had to be cancelled. I bought the tickets during National Theatre Week so got great deals on them. So I know I need to keep my eyes open to get some good tickets again but I’m determined to rebook them both when we’re able to. Mary Poppins is a show I’ve been meaning to see for a while as it’s a childhood classic movie for me. While & Juliet is a new addition that I was going to see with my mum.
